Ash is a Tall Fast Growing Tree that can Reach a Height of Approximately 100 ft and can  Live from 200  to 500 Years.   The Ash Tree  does not Flower until it is about  30 Years Old. 
 
 
Ash Trees grow Thin and Tall Whilst  Young, Becoming more Rounded with Age.  The Trunk of the Ash Tree is Olive Green in Colour and  tend to be Smooth when Young, but as the Tree Ages the Bark Becomes Ridged.  The Branches  are a Greyish Green Colour Bearing  Leaves much Later than many other Trees in the UK.    The Leaves  Measure Approximately 8 to 11 inches in Length  and are Oval Shaped, Shiny on the Top of the Leaf whilst a Pale Green on the Underside.
 
 
Ash is a Dioecious Tree,  which Means that Male and Female Flowers Typically Grow on Different Trees, although it is not Unknown for a Tree to have Male and Female Flowers on Different Branches. Both Male and Female Flowers are Purple and Appear before the Leaves in Spring.
 
 
 There is an Old saying that says “Oak before Ash, we will have a Splash, Ash before Oak we will have a Soak”.
